Spun By The Potter’s Beginning

WOW!  HERE IT IS 3:00 AM and writing my first blog entry.  Sometimes words and ideas come to me at night while I sleep.  If I don’t write them down, then I forget when I wake up.  Just a few weeks ago, I had no idea what a blog was.   It all started when I submitted an entry to a book writing contest.  One of the questions on the entry form was to list any blog sites I write at.  I had no clue what they were talking about.  I tried to imagine why the judges of the book writing contest would be interested in ‘blogging’.

A couple of weeks later, I shared with a friend my desire to put my writings of hope out to as many people as possible.  She suggested that I start a blog.  (Rats, there’s that word again!) I told her I had no clue what a blog was, and she suggested I watch the movie Julie and Julia.  The movie is about a woman who wants to be a writer and loves to cook.  She is fascinated with Julia Child, so she decides to cook her way through Julia Child’s cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking in 365 days and blog about it.

Next, I checked out a couple of books from the library to see what blogging was all about.  I also spoke to my son, who is a graphic designer, and he said when I was ready, he would help me set up my blog site.

I did as my friend suggested.  I checked out the movie Julie and Julia and watched it.  It gave me a lot of insight into the blogging world.

Then, my friend introduced me to a free lance writer who shared her personal blog site with me as well as the sites she writes for.  This helped me get a feel for the page layout and design choice.  It also gave me insight to writing style.

Finally, my son helped me launch my blog site, Spun By The Potter.  Yay!!!

The goal of Spun By The Potter is to bring hope to those who are hungering; those whose hope is growing thin.  When I started the process of discovering the world of blogging, God took me through each step bringing hope and a realization that I could enter the world of social media and share a message of hope to my readers.  God will do the same for you.  He will bring hope to you and lead you through each step.

Start by finding something good that happened during your day.  Just one thing for now.  Write it down.  Mull it over.  And then thank God for bringing that moment of joy, as brief as it may have been, into your life.  Finally, move forward, conscientiously looking each day for the blessing, and continue to write it down.  It could be the song of a bird, a smile from somebody passing by, or the laughter of children.  Only you will know as God reveals it to you.  Before long, you will find many blessings tucked inside each day, and your hope will grow abundantly as you realize that God holds you in the palm of His hand.

My blessing today was connecting with you through this thing called a blog.
